Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
- Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
- This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of a number of frequencies for the purpose of providing support and logistics communications for the 2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX at the Circuit of The Americas race track Austin, TX for the period of November 5 through November 21, 2012. Two frequency ranges are being requested (415.0000 to 419.9875 and 425.0000 to 429.9875 MHz). These frequencies cover 800 channels in 0.0125 MHz steps and are being requested to be compatible with the equipment normally used in conjunction with this type of event. In addition, six frequencies from the standard Industrial/Business Radio Pool are also requested. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. The number of frequencies and units requested is to satisfy the needs of this activity and to allow for the fact that the frequencies are shared with other authrorized users and therefore may not always be available.
