Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of frequencies 461.1 and 462.2 MHz for the purpose of providing logistics communications support for The Amgen Tour of California Cycling event and related activities along the race course (map & schedule attached) for the period of May 13 through May 25, 2011. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters, broadcast network entities and event participants of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. The two frequencies and the number of units requested is to satisfy the needs to cover an event of this magnitude and to allow for the fact that the channels are shared with other users making some at times unavailable.
