Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Good cause supports grant of this STA. Swarm urgently needs to demonstrate the viability of its proposed satellite-based communications network to technical and business partners, potential investors, and potential customers. STA would facilitate such viability testing by allowing Swarm to meet a launch opportunity in September 2018. STA is consistent with the Commissions longstanding goals of promoting efficient spectrum use, and will not adversely impact any third party given that Swarm intends to communicate only with carefully coordinated U.S.-based ground stations. A successful demonstration will encourage further cooperation with and/or potential investment by interested parties to facilitate further commercial development of Swarms proposed data relay network.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Demonstration of new satellite and radio technology for deployment in a low-cost data rate relay system applicable for Internet and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. The proposed operation will demonstrate new satellite and radio technology for deployment in a low cost data rate relay system applicable for Internet and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, including asset tracking and remote ground sensors. See Narrative Exhibit for additional information.
