Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 0508-EX-ST-2017

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to test an automobile racing communications system for voice and
telemetry communications that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at a racing
event at Circuit of the Americas Motor Speedway, Austin, Texas by a single racing team over a
three-day period June 13-15 inclusive, 2017. The race team deploying this system in a private
testing program will be Williams Formula One. The race team will use the communications
system on a developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC Motorsport
Communications. It will consist of mobile and portable transceivers using specific VHF simplex
channels and a single, 4 MHz bandwidth telemetry channel centered at 1535 MHz.

The event will be at Circuit of the Americas Motor Speedway, June 13-15, 2017.

The applicant requires fifteen specific VHF channels for simplex voice operations with mobile
and portable transceivers using 11K2F3E emissions and a single telemetry channel centered at
1535 MHz using a 4M00F1D emission.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the UHF channels sought and
proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of the raceway. The telemetry
channel has been requested and used before at this same venue in 1533-EX-ST-2016.

The “stop buzzer” contact on site on behalf of the applicant and GT3 Racing will be Mr. Daniel
Cox, Frequency Manager for MRTC, whose mobile number is +44 (0) 1509 224 300.
