A STA is necessary to gain frequency authorization approval to radiate for an engineering test purposes.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Proof-of-concept to receive and process simulated sonobuoy data emitted from a ground base station. The purpose of this test is a proof-of-concept to receive and process simulated sonobuoy data emitted from a ground base station. The data will be received by an aircraft. The aircraft will then relay this information over a licensed data link to a ground control facility for post processing of simulated sonobuoy data. This effort is a lead up test event / risk reduction prior to relaying real sonobuoy data from the SCORE range to a ground control laboratory via an manned aircraft platform.
