Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Request for Special Temporary Authority Castle Rock, Colorado Earth Station KL92 Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat License LLC (“Intelsat”) herein requests 30 days, beginning June 1, 2017, of Special Temporary Authority (“STA”)1 to use its Castle Rock, Colorado Ku-band earth station—call sign KL92—to provide telemetry, tracking, and command (“TT&C”) services for Intelsat 9 (S2380) during its drift from 43.1° W.L. to 29.5° W.L.2 Intelsat 9 is expected to begin drifting no earlier than June 1, 2017, and the drift will take approximately two months. TT&C operations will be performed at the following frequencies: 14000.5 MHz and 14494.5 MHz (Earth-to-space); and 11700.5 MHz and 11702.0 MHz (space-to-Earth). The drift operations will be coordinated with all operators of satellites that use the same frequency bands and are in the drift path.3 All operators of satellites in that path will be provided with an emergency phone number where the licensee can be reached in the event that harmful interference occurs.
