Re: Request for Special Temporary Authority
Paumalu, Hawaii C-band Earth Station KA265
               Expedited Treatment Requested

Dear Ms. Dortch:

Intelsat License LLC (“Intelsat”) herein requests a grant of Special
Temporary Authority1 for 60 days, from January 9, 2012 through March 8,
2012, to utilize its C-band earth station KA265 to transmit to the Intelsat
701 satellite at 157.0º E.L. Intelsat intends shortly to file an application for
authority to add this point of communication on a permanent basis.

Intelsat recently redeployed the Intelsat 701 satellite to 157.0º E.L.2 and
now seeks to utilize its C-band earth station – call sign KA265 – to
transmit to the satellite in the bands 3700-4200 MHz, and 5925-6425 MHz.
The proposed operations are within the coordinated parameters of the earth
station’s license. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful interference
should occur, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate the
interference.

Grant of this STA request will enable Intelsat to provide C-band capacity
on Intelsat 701 at 157.0º E.L. as quickly as possible. This serves the public
interest by allowing Intelsat to meet customer demand at that location.

Intelsat has filed this STA request, an FCC Form 159, a $180.00 filing fee
and this supporting letter electronically via the International Bureau’s
Filing System (“IBFS”).
