Clarksburg, Maryland C—band Earth Station E080011

  Dear Ms. Dortch:

Intelsat North America LLC ("Intelsat") herein requests a 30—day further
extensmn —— through May 26, 2010 —— of the Special Temporary Authority
("STA") previously granted Intelsatto utilize its Clarksburg, Maryland C—
band earth station to communicate with the Dutch—licensed NSS—5 satellite at
20° W.L.* The antenna will continue to transmit in the frequency band 5925—
6425 MHz and to receive in the frequency band 3700—4200 MHz to/from NSS—
  5 at 20° W.L. Intelsat‘s license for the E080011 antenna allows
commumcanons in these bands to an Intelsat satellite at this point of
  communication."

Intelsat is using this antenna to support C—band customers previously on
Intelsat 603 that have temporarily been transferred to the NSS—5 satellite upon
the latter satellite‘s arrival at 20° W.L. As the Commission is aware, NSS—5
has replaced Intelsat 603 at 20° W.L.* Because the NSS—5 satellite has not yet .
been granted U.S. market access, this STA extension request seeks authority _
for the E080011 earth station to continue to communicate temporarily with a
Dutch—licensed satellite. Intelsat incorporates herein by reference the market

_ Intelsat has filed this STA request, an FCC Form 159, a $175.00 filing fee
and this supporting letter electronically via the Intema’aonal Bureau‘s Filing
~ System ("IBFS").

~— Grant of this STA further extension request will not result in risk of harmful
interference into any lawfully operating facility.. The antenna will continue to
communicate with the NSS—5 satellite in accordance with the technical
parameters of its current license. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful
interference should occur, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate
 ‘the interference.

Grant of this STA further extension request will ensure continuity of service to
those Intelsat C—band customers temporarily relocated from Intelsat 603 to the .
NSS—5 satellite. Grant of thisrequest will thereby serve the public interest.
Moreover, the STA is only required for a brief period of time and Intelsat does
not anticipate needing any further extensions as Intelsat plans to transition
these customers off ofNSS—5 onto other Intelsat satellites operating at nearby
orbital locations by the May 26, 2010 end date sought herein.

Please direct any questions regérding this STA extension request to the
 undersigned at (202) 944—7848.

 Respectfully submitted,
