12. Description.
NYCPD is requesting to operate a 4 Site Network operating in the Ku Band, consisting of TWO (2) FIXED - 2.4 meter antennas, ONE (1) TEMPORARY FIXED - 1.2 meter antenna, ONE (1) TEMPORARY FIXED - 0.96 meter antenna. All systems contain D.A.M.A. Modems operating on the MIDAS Network utilizing satellite AMC-03, in Geostationary orbit located at 87 degrees W.L.. All sites are the property of the NYCPD, and located in NEW YORK CITY. This system is for the COMMAND COMMUNICATIONS CENTER OF MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG, POLICE COMMISSIONER RAYMOND KELLY AND THE COUNTER TERRORISM TASK FORCE. The purpose of operation is for the protection and security of the General Public in New York City during the heightened security risk due to the continued threat of terrorism against the United States of America. This matter is in the interest of NATIONAL SECURITY. The City of New York request this STA be granted while our application for a permanent License is being reviewed by the Commission - SES-LIC-20040924-01460.
