(“Assignor”) seeks to assign the license of satellite earth station E980001 (the “Earth Station”) to KFMB-TV, LLC (“Assignee,” and together with Assignor, the “Applicants”), a Delaware limited liability company that is a direct wholly owned subsidiary of TEGNA Inc. (“TEGNA”), a publicly traded company. Assignor also is the licensee of television station KFMB-TV (Facility ID 42122) and radio stations KFMB(AM) (Facility ID 42120) and KFMB-FM (Facility ID 42117), all licensed to San Diego, California (together, the “Stations”). 1 Assignor uses the Earth Station to support the broadcast television operations of KFMB-TV, San Diego, California. Grant of this application accordingly will serve the public interest by allowing Assignee to continue to use the Earth Station to provide important broadcast programming, including local news and other items of the community interest to the residents of the San Diego area. 1 Applicants concurrently are filing an application seeking the Commission’s consent to the assignment of these broadcast licenses.
