       File Nos. SAT-STA-20100401-00062, SAT-STA-20100203-00020; Call Sign S2232

Dear Ms. Dortch:

On behalf of EchoStar Corporation (“EchoStar”), this letter notifies the Commission that on May
3, 2010, EchoStar 3 (Call Sign S2653) experienced a transponder failure as a result of Traveling Wave
Tube Amplifier anomalies, thereby diminishing EchoStar 3’s operating capacity. Pursuant to condition
3 of the above referenced special temporary authority, EchoStar activated the communications payload
of the EchoStar 6 satellite to maintain service following the failure. EchoStar now notifies the
Commission, in writing, of such activation within three business day of activation, pursuant to condition
4 of the grant.1

                                                    Yours sincerely,

                                                    ________/s/_____________
                                                    Petra Vorwig
