                            Request for Special Temporary Authorlty
                                           Intelsat 604

Intelsat North America LLC (“Intelsat”) pursuant to 25.120 of the FCC‘s rules,‘ requests Special
Temporary Authority ("STA") for 30 days, from January 30, 2006 to March 1, 2006, to stop the
drift of INTELSAT 604 and operate in inclined orbit at 177.85° E.L. Intelsat currently holds
authority to relocate and operate the INTELSAT 604 satellite in inclined orbit at the 178° E.L.
orbital location." Pursuant to that authority, the INTELSAT 604 satellite is currently dnfimg,
and is quite close, to the 178° E.L. orbital location.

Stopping the drift of ]NTELSAT 604 at 177.85° E.L. and subsequent operation in that location
will serve the public interest by accommodating a co—location/coordination agreement with
Inmarsat and allowing Intelsat flexibility to achieve a safe and efficient station keeping of the
INTELSAT 604 satellite with an Inmarsat satellite located at the 178.1° E.L. orbital location.

Operation of INTELSAT 604 at 177.85° EL, ‘rather than 178.0° E.L., poses no fisk of harmful
interference to other satellites operating at nearby orbital locations in the same freque:ncies.4

For the reasons set forth herein, Intelsat respeptfillly requests that the Commission promptly
 grant this request. |
