Take Inventory Take Inventory Step 1. Check For These Things First You will need to have the following things ready and available near the location where you intend to set up your videophone.: Broadband Internet Service Your videophone requires a “High-Speed” Broadband (DSL, cable) Internet service. The required minimum download/upload speeds are 256Kbps/256Kbps. Ethernet or Wireless Network Your videophone can connect to your Internet service modem or router by a wired (Ethernet) cable. If you are using a local wireless (i.e., 802.11b/g) network, your videophone can use that connection to your Internet service. Electrical Outlet You’ll need a standard 120v AC electrical outlet located near your videophone. A power transformer is supplied with your videophone. Do not use any other transformer. HD Television or Display You need a television or display device (e.g., computer monitor) that supports HD resolution (720p/1080p) and has at least one available Full Size Female HDMI-in port. Step 2. Unpack the Shipping Box Look for the following components packed in the shipping box: Main Unit The Main Unit is a white and blue circular device with connection ports on one edge. Remote Camera Unit The Remote Camera Unit is a white and blue oval device with a white Mini DisplayPort cable attached. Remote Control Unit The Remote Control Unit is a black hand-held device with number pad and other keys. DC Power Supply and AC Power Cord The DC Power Supply is a black rectangular device with an integral male plug attached and a separate black AC Power Cord that you attach to the Power Supply yourself. HDMI Cable The HDMI cable is a black cable with a Full Size (Type A) Male connector plug on one end and a Micro (Type D) Male connector plug on the other end. Connect the Equipment Connect the Equipment Step 1. Find a good place to put the videophone next to your HDTV or display device. Look around for a good place to set up your videophone. You’ll need a stable table, counter, or shelf that’s located under or next to your HDTV or display device, one available AC power outlet, and your Internet modem or router. If you have a wireless local network, you do not need to have the Internet modem or router close by. Step 2. Pick up the videophone’s Main Unit. Identify the five UI navigation buttons on the top surface and the row of connector ports located on the side of the unit. Connect the Equipment Step 3. Pick up the Remote Camera Unit. Identify the Mini DisplayPort connector plug at the end of the white cable as shown in the image below. Connect the Equipment Step 5. Pick up the DC Power Supply and separate AC Power Cord. Connect the Power Cord to the side of the Power Supply as shown in the image below. Open the battery compartment and insert two AA batteries as shown in the image below. Connect the Equipment Step 7. Connect the cables to the side of the Main Unit as shown in the image below. DC Power Plug HDMI Cable (Micro plug) Mini DisplayPort Cable from the Remote Camera Unit Ethernet Cable (if using) Step 8. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to your HDTV or display. Step 9. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your Internet modem or router. Step 10. Position the Remote Camera Unit on the top of the HDTV or display. Use its attached metal clasp bracket to hold the camera securely on the display as shown. Step 11. Switch the input setting on the HDTV or display to the videophone HDMI port. Safety Instructions Safety Instructions Save these instructions for future reference. To make sure that using your videophone is a safe and pleasant experience, please take the time to read, fully understand and follow each of these safety instructions: • The videophone has no on/off switch. To disconnect the Main Unit from power, you must disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet. • Carefully position the videophone on a table or another stable place away from any source of heat or moisture. • Carefully position each of the cables connected to the videophone so that they will not be accidentally pulled or tripped on by anyone. • Never use the videophone near any source of water or while your hands are wet. Clean the outside of any part of the videophone only with a dry cloth. • Use only the power adapter supplied with the videophone. Use a surge protector to protect the videophone from damage due to electrical spikes or outages. • Avoid using the videophone during an electrical storm.Unplug the videophone during lightning storms and whenever you will not used it for long periods of time. • Do not use the videophone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the videophone. • To avoid the risk of an electric shock, do not disassemble the videophone. • Do not attempt to open or service the videophone yourself. Contact Sorenson for servicing instructions if any part of the videophone has damaged, if any liquid has been spilled on any part of the videophone, or if the videophone does not appear to power on and operate normally. • Before moving the videophone, first disconnect it from the power supply and then disconnect all other cables. • If you experience any problems with the videophone, call Sorenson for assistance. When the videophone is no longer needed, its plastic and metal parts may be recycled. Please check with local resources for information on how to properly dispose of the components of your Sorenson device.
