November 25, 2008 Federal Communications Commission Equipment Authorization Branch 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Gentlemen: Itron Electricity Metering, Inc. respectfully requests confidentiality of certain materials provided with the submission of the AMI4 under FCC ID: SK9AMI-4 in accordance with FCC Regulations 0.459. The confidentiality request applies to the following exhibits: 08-0431 – Schematics.pdf 08-0431 – System Block Diagram.pdf 08-0431 – Theory of Operation.pdf 08-0431 – Internal Photos.pdf 08-0431 – Manual.pdf Confidentiality of the Internal Photos is being requested because this is a non-consumer device which is not accessible by the general public and is only serviceable by the applicant or designated technicians. The AMI4 module will be permanently installed internal to the Itron electricity meter. Internal access to this meter will only be available to the licensee (Itron) or qualified public utility technicians. The Manual is technical and is not provided to the consumer because the consumer cannot service or install the device. Therefore confidentiality of the Manual is also requested. The AMI4 has been developed at considerable effort and expense by Itron Electricity Metering, Inc.. These items are considered as Trade Secrets and therefore public access to the proprietary material could possibly result in duplication of equipment that could severely damage the company’s business advantage.
