                                SEL-3022 Circuit Potting Attestation

The SEL-3022 is a communications security device. The primary application is as an accessory for SEL’s recloser
controllers in the power industry where safety and security are a must.

SEL will manufacture all SEL-3022 with an epoxy based potting material covering the circuitry on the printed
circuit board. This is a process used to impede malicious tampering of the circuitry and the programming contained
within.

The potting compound does not cover the 802.11b radio module containing the complete wireless radio circuitry.
The 802.11b module connector is exposed to allow interference free connection outside the potted area.

The potting is a two-part compound poured over the control circuitry to a specified level and allowed to harden. It
is contained on the top of the board by a foam border to ensure full coverage and leak containment. Holes in the
circuit board allow potting material to flow through and attach to the bottom enclosure shell providing coverage of
the bottom side of the circuit board.

SEL provides this information to ensure confidence that none of the 802.11b radio circuitry is covered with the
potting compound and therefore no pictures of the circuitry on the SEL printed circuit board are necessary. All
SEL-3022 units will be manufactured with this process.
