2GHz Band ODU Regulatory Information

FCC Regulatory Information
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must
accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

No changes shall be made to the equipment without the manufacturer’s permission as this
may void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

To comply with FCC requirements, the ODU has been approved for use with antennas that
have a maximum gain of 24dBi.Please refer to the FCC Grant of Certification for RF
Exposure exclusion distances.

The FCC Grant of Certification can be found using the FCC ID Search feature and entering
the FCC ID marked on the equipment into the webpage at https://www.fcc.gov/general/fcc-
id-search-page.

RF Exposure
Antenna installations for the General Dynamics Broadband ODU shall be performed in
accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and all national laws and regulations.

The High Power ODU and antenna system when used for vehicle installations, shall only be
installed where the vehicle is fitted with a telescopic mast. To ensure compliance with RF
Exposure rules, the mast shall be extended to achieve the required RF exposure separation
distance before being operated to ensure compliance with applicable national laws and
regulations regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.

Any changes to the antenna installation or radio transmission equipment require a re-
evaluation of the exposures to electromagnetic fields.

Pursuant to 47 CFR Part 1, Subpart 1, subject to the provisions of section 1.1307, all
installations must be evaluated for requirements contained in Table 1, “Limits for maximum
permissible exposure,” in section 1.1310.

2GHz Band

The 2GHz Band Outdoor Unit has been assessed for compliance with FCC requirements for
antennas with gains up to 24dBi, the minimum exclusion distance required to meet the Un-
Controlled/General Public limit of 1.0mW/cm2 is stated in the table below.

The separation distances stated in table 1-1 are valid for antennas fitted directly to vehicles
where the vehicle structure defines the separation distance.

 Antenna Gain 6 12 15 18 21 24 dBi
 Separation Distance 0.44 0.87 1.23 1.74 2.46 3.47 metres

The separation distances stated in table 1-2 are valid for antennas fitted to vehicle mounted
telescopic masts and are relative to ground level. The antenna should be raised above this
height before use.
