An 1.—3 Communications & Thales Company Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems 19810 N. 7Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85027—4400 Phone: (623) 445—7000 Fax: (623) 445—7003 May 22, 2002 Mr. Richard Fabina, Chief Equipment Authorization Branch Office of Engineering and Technology Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills 21046 Re: ACSS Request for Change in Equipment Identification Numbers Dear Mr. Fabina: Pursuant to Section 2.933(b) of the rules of the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC" or "Commission"), ACSS respectfully requests FCC approval to change the equipment identification numbers of the following Traffic Collision Avoidance System ("TCAS") equipment, which currently is manufactured by Honeywell International Inc.: FCC ID: GB8XS—950 (Grant Date 8/3/95) FCC ID: GB8RT—950 (Grant Date 9/23/97) FCC ID: GB8XS—950S—I (Grant Date 1/18/00) As a result of a Consent Decree between the Department of Justice and Honeywell Inc./AlliedSignal Inc. (hereinafter, "Honeywell") which required the divestiture of certain TCAS manufacturing businesses operated by Honeywell, ACSS anticipates assuming the manufacturing and marketing responsibility for the three products listed above on or about July, 2002. ACSS certifies that it will maintain the same design and circuitry used by Honeywell for each of these TCAS products. ACSS also certifies that the equipment that it will manufacture will not differ from the original equipment, and that the original test results of the equipment continue to be representative of and applicable to the equipment that ACSS will manufacture.

ACSS was recently assigned a grantee code, P8C by the Commkission, and intends to use the following equipment identification numbers for the above—referenced TCAS products: P8CXS—950 (formerly, FCC ID: GB8XS—950) P8CRT—950 (formerly, FCC ID: GB8RT—950) P8CXS—950S—I (formerly, FCC ID: GB8XS—950S—I1) Should the Commission have any questions concerning this application, please contact: Sincerely, fls [ Peter Beutelman Hardware Engineering Manager
