                         STAR-800-2 Mobile Monitoring Unit
                             Operational Description

The STaR-800-2 is a portable personal locator device designed to be worn on the belt of
offender's participating in GPS tracking programs. The STaR unit receives signals from GPS
satellites in order to determine the location of the offender at any given time. The location data
is uploaded to the monitoring station over the cellular network.
To ensure that the offender is in close proximity to the unit, the STaR monitors signals
received from a bracelet transmitter attached to the offender's ankle.
The STaR-800-2 is a battery-operated unit and comprises a GPS receiver, a 433.92MHz RF
receiver and a cellular modem.
The unit is powered by a 7.2V, Li ion battery and is charged by a 100-240VAC to 9VDC power
adapter.
