 3 reboot

 4 2.3.1 Density configuration
5 Data density can be modified by issuing the command below on Tera Term Pro console of LP2.
6 There are two separate commands for data density modifications, one for 40MHz bandwidth
7 mode and one for 20MHz bandwidth mode:
8 Commands for setting data density at 27 Mbps (40MHz bandwidth mode):
 9 dump 188 0
10 dump 181 2 82 82 82
11 Commands for setting data density at 26 Mbps (20MHz bandwidth mode):
12 dump 188 0
13 dump 180 2 66 66 66
14 Output: The data density will be increased and the increased data density can be observed on RF
15 spectrum analyzer which is capturing the traffic activities of Qualcomm Master Device.

16 2.3.2 Frequency/channel selection
17 For conducting the FCC radar tests, the DUT must be set on certain specific frequencies. The
18 IEEE 802.11n protocol does not allow operation on all the frequencies in 40 MHz mode.
19 Only certain pairs of primary and secondary channels are allowed in 40 MHz as shown in the
20 table below. For example when the primary channel is selected at 40, the secondary channel of 44
21 cannot be selected.

2 By default, the Qualcomm Master devoce will boot up in 40 MHz mode on primary channel 100
3 and secondary channel 104. The center frequency will be at 5510 MHz.
4 The DFS commands to set the frequency are as follows:
 5                aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 2 {prim}
6 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 8 1 (force the AP to select the configured channel)
7 aniSdkTool –s cga (configure the AP to the selected channel)
8 Specify the primary {prim} channel and the secondary will be selected automatically based on
9 the combinations shown in the table above.

10 2.3.2.1 Channel to frequency/frequency to channel conversion
11 Frequency to channel: frequency: (frequency-5000)/5
12 Example: (5180-5000)/5 = channel 36 and (5600-5000)/5 = channel 120
13 Channel to frequency: ((channel*5)+5000)
14 Example: ((36*5)+5000) = frequency 5180 and ((48*5)+5000) = frequency 5240
15 If primary is 44 and secondary is 48, the central frequency would be at channel 46 in 40 MHz
16 mode (channel bonding enabled). If in 20 MHz mode, the operating frequency would be at
17 channel 44 (primary channel).
18 The command aniSdkTool –g rad shows the radio status of AP. If 40 MHz bandwidth is enabled, this
19 command will show both primary and secondary channels and if 20 MHz mode is enabled, it will show
20 only the primary channel as there is no secondary channel in this mode .

21 2.3.3 Channel bonding configuration (40 MHz mode)
22 The commands to enable channel bonding are as follows:
23 aniSdkTool –s bond 0 1
24 aniSdkTool –s cga
25 The commands to disable channel bonding (i.e. set 20 MHz mode) are as follows:

80-VT830-1 Rev. A 9 Qualcomm Confidential and Proprietary

                                                                                          Requirements and Setup

 1 aniSdkTool –s bond 0 0
 2 aniSdkTool –s cga

3 2.3.4 Radar probability test mode configuration
 4

5 In radar probability test mode, the AP will not switch the channel upon detecting radar; instead
6 the AP remains on the same channel and prints a message on the console upon detecting radar
7 pulses. This allows the tester to continuously issue radar pulses without reconfiguring the AP
8 with the target frequency multiple times.
9 To enable the AP for probability test mode, the following command is used:
10 dump 19 1
11 To disable probability test mode and allow the AP to switch channels upon radar detection, the
12 following command is used:
13 dump 19 0
14 When in test mode, the output on the console of LP2 will be similar to the following:
15 halIsFalseRadarTrigger: 402: AGC_RDET_RADAR_DETECTED_REG : 7
16 Detected a genuine radar interrupt, radarPulseWidth=110, numRadarPulse=4
17 halRadar_ProcessDetectInd: 513: Radar interrupt testing in progress...

18 2.3.5 Radar parking control (Channel Availability Check Control)
19

20 When DFS selects a radar channel, it parks on that channel for 60 seconds before starting the AP
21 to insure that the channel is radar free. Sometimes this delay might be a nuisance when
22 performing DFS testing.
23 To avoid the channel availability check (i.e. disable radar parking), use the following commands:
24 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 9 0
25 aniSdkTool –s cga
26 To enable radar parking, use the following commands:
27 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 9 1
28 aniSdkTool –s cga

29 2.3.6 View the DFS configuration
30

31 To view the complete active DFS configuration on the AP, use the following commands:
32 aniSdkTool –g dfs 0

33 2.3.7 Choosing persistency of the radar channel information
34 During normal operation of the AP with DFS turned on, when radar is detected on the current
35 operating channel, DFS is triggered to select another channel to avoid interfering with the radar
36 signals. When selecting another channel DFS will record or “persist” the channel on which radar
37 was detected and will not allow the AP to operate in this radar affected channel for another 30
38 minutes per FCC requirements.

80-VT830-1 Rev. A 10 Qualcomm Confidential and Proprietary
MAY CONTAIN U.S. AND INTERNATIONAL EXPORT CONTROLLED INFORMATION

                                                                                          Requirements and Setup

1 During DFS testing it might be required to utilize the same radar affected channel in spite
2 detected radar. Radar channel persistence can be disabled using the following commands:
 3

4 Disable persisting radar channel, use the following commands:
 5 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 7 0
 6 aniSdkTool –s cga
7 Enable persisting radar channel, use the following commands:
 8 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 7 1
 9 aniSdkTool –s cga

10 2.3.8 Deleting the history file
11 To decrease testing time, the radar detection history file on the Qualcomm Master device may be
12 deleted so that channels where radar was detected previously, may be reused.
13 To delete the radar hisfile on the Qualcomm Master, use the following commands:
14 rm /config/wsmSavedRadarDetectList
15 reboot

16 2.4 Configuring the AP for DFS tests - Examples
17 This section describes the steps required to configure the AP for each of the FCC DFS tests.

18 2.4.1 Radar probability test
19 Commands to configure the radar probability test in channel 120 (20MHz):
20 aniSdkTool –s bond 0 0
21 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 2 120
22 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 8 1
23 aniSdkTool –s cga
24

25 After the AP is fully booted with the new settings, issue the following command to put AP into
26 probability test mode:
27 dump 19 1

28 2.4.2 Channel move time test
29 Commands to configure the AP for testing channel move time:
30 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 2 120
31 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 8 1
32 aniSdkTool –s cga

34 After AP is fully booted with new settings, issue the following command to insure that the AP is
35 not in probability test mode.
36 dump 19 0

 1 2.4.3 Channel availability test
2 Commands to configure the channel availability test on channel 120:
 3 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 2 120
 4 aniSdkTool –s dfs 0 8 1
 5 aniSdkTool –s cga

 6 2.5 Avoiding false detection
7 When you configure the AP to start on a potential radar channel, there is a slight probability of
8 false detection caused due to the highly sensitive antenna either during channel availability check
9 or after AP is up. False detection can result in a channel switch to another channel and hence
10 slowing down the test process. To avoid the channel switch due to false detection, it is always
11 better to put the AP into probability test mode whenever we are not testing channel move time or
12 some other test where we require a channel switch.
13 To do this, issue the command dump 19 1 right after rebooting the AP.
