Telephone +1401.739.5800 / 800.556.7266 Facsimile +1.401.732.0145 www.zebra.com 7/9/2003 Office of Engineering and Technology Laboratory Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills Rd Columbia, MD 21046—1609 Dear Sir/iMadam, In reference to the application under FCC ID: 128—PL4352: This product is identical to the already granted 128—QL420352 with the exception of labeling. 128—QL420352 is labeled as a Zebra Technologies QL420 printer. 128—PL4352 will be labeled as an Intermec PL4 printer and sold by an OEM customer of ours (although both printers will be manufactured by Zebra Technologies). Our OEM customer, Intermec, is trying to disguise the fact that Zebra is the actual manufacturer of the PL4. They have objected to our model number, QL420, being embedded in the FCC ID number and are requesting that a new FCC ID number be issued specifically for their version of the printer. It is our intention to use the 128—PL4352 number on the Intermec PL4 only while retaining the existing 128—QL420352 number on the Zebra QL420. Again, the two printers are identical except for labeling and the radios that they contain function identically. Sincerely, Robert D.
