Concerning: Regulatory and hardware instructions for integration of RFID
reader into host applications (concerns FCC ID: HPL-DR100SRFID)

This document describes the integration of a modular short-range RFID reader
into host applications. The company internal reference of the RFID reader (or
reader for short) is A813168.

The RFID reader will never be sold to external parties. As the RFID reader is for internal
(company) use only there is no user manual. The radio regulations are covered by radio type
testing on the RFID reader. The host application with assembled RFID reader is tested for
digital device (unintentional emission) regulations.

Note that the reader as standalone unit cannot function (per definition).

FCC Regulatory requirement.

When integrating the reader into Agfa host applications the integrators should respect the
following regulatory requirement:

The RFID reader has a permanent affixed label (with the text “FCC ID: HPL-DR100SRFID”)
and, because the module is not visible from the outside, an external label is required that has
the text “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: HPL-DR100SRFID” or “Contains FCC ID: HPL-
DR100SRFID”.

This text must be integrated into the identification plate of the host application or on a separate
label in an accessible position.

The host application requires the following label:

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2)
this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may
cause undesired operation.

Additional regulatory information (for the host application device manual):

For all Class B Digital Devices, the following statement must be included in the manual:

Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not
installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference
to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur
in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the
user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following
measures:
—Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
—Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
—Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the
receiver is connected.
—Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

The user’s manual or instruction manual for an intentional or unintentional radiator shall
caution the user that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
