1: Inserting the Card
   Before You Start to install the PCI sound card into
  your PC, the Windows 98/95/NT4.0 operating system
  must be installed on your system.
  To insert the sound card:
  1. Power off your PC.
  2. Insert the card into an available PCI slot.

  3. Connect the CD audio cable of your CD—ROM drive
     to the card‘s CD—Audio In connector J10 or J11.
  4. Connect your speakers to the Audio Out jack or
     microphone to the Mic In jack on the sound card, respectively.

   Software Installation
   STEP 1: To install the card‘s Vindows 98 95 drivers:
   1. Start Windows. The Windows message box appears announcing the detection ofthe "PCI Multimedia Audio Device".
  2. For Windows 98 or Winows 95B/OSR2 users: The Update Device Driver dialog box appears. For Windows 95 users:
     select the "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" item and click on OK to continune.
  3. Insert the SM Live Utilities CD—ROM into your CD—ROM drive, i.e. D. For 95B/08R2 usrs, you may have to click the
     Other Locations button.
  4. In the path line type D:NWINY8\ENGLISH . It is for Windows 98 users and English Version.
     In the path line type D:NWINIS\ENGLISH . It is for Windows 95 users and English Version.
      Then click on OK or Finish to copy the relative driver files.
     EA You may also be asked to insert the Microsoft Windows 98 or 95 CD—ROM during the install process.
  5. Follow the on—line installation procedures.
  6. Double—clcik on the Control Panel, System icon, Device Managertab, then "Sound, video and game controllers",
     and you should see four devices without any exclamation mark. SM Live Legacy Audio, SM Live Legacy Joystick,
     SM Live PCI Audio , and SM Live PCI Joystick. You also should see ForteMedia Q3D icon in the Control
     Panel. This means that this sound card is installed successfully.

For Windows NT 4.0 users, to install the card‘s Windows NT 4.0 drivers:
1. Start Windows NT. Double—click on the Multimedia icon from the Control Panel.
2. In the Multimedia Properties dialog box. click on the Devices tab.
3. Select the "Audio Device" in the multimedia devices and then click the Add button.
4. Select the "Unlisted or Updated Driver"item from the Add dialog box. Click OK.
5 . After the Install Driver screen appears, insert the SM Live Utilities CD—ROM into your CD—ROM drive, i.c. D.
        Type D:\WINNT, then click OK.
6. In the Add Unlisted or Updated Driver dialog box, select the audio driver model "SM Live Wave, Mixer,and FM—Syn",
        then click OK button. Unless you have the knowledge and need to configure the board setting yourself, click OK.
7. The System Setting Change dialog box appears. Click the Restart Now button to activate the sound card driver.
    ‘         To install the card‘s Windows audio software:
1. Double click on the My Computer icon, then double—click on the SM Live CD—ROM icon.
2. Select Install DirectX5.0 to install DirectX 5.0 utilities if upou have not installed it yet.
3. In the main setup program, select Install Software Wavetable.Follow the on—line procedures will install
   YAMAHA Soft Synthesizer S—YXGS0.
4. In the main setup program, select Install Audio Rack. Follow the on—line procedures will install EzAudio
   Application.
5. Select QSound 3D Audio Demo. It will show you the surround sound by using Qsound .
To change the IRQ or DMA in Windows:
1. Click on the System‘s Device Manager tab ofthe Control Panel.
2. Double—click on the item "Sound, video and game controllers", then double—click on the sub—item "SM Live
   Legacy Audio". Click on the Resource tab in the Properties dialog box.
3. Under Resources Setting entry, select the Interrupt Request (IRQ) or the Direct Memory Access(DMA) to change.
4. Click the Change Setting button. Click the up or down arrow button to select the new setting, then click on OK to
        save the changes. You may select different configuration settings by selecting from the "Setting based on" entry.
To remove the sound drivers, On the control panel,Double—click ForteMedia Q3D 2.00 icon.Click the button
"Uninstall" will do an automatic cleaning up ofthe Windows Sound Maker Audio registry entries.

compliance could void the user‘s authority to operate the equipment.
