17 October 2018 Subject: Request for Professional Installation FCC ID: EO9OW3; IC: 864A-OW3 Dear Sir or Madam: The following items justify professional installation in order to support any function that requires the use of the device’s part 15 transmitter: The device cannot be sold retail to the general public or by mail order. It must be sold to dealers. Only utilities will purchase this device. Distribution is controlled through Itron’s distribution. Installation must be controlled. All part 15 transmitter functions are controlled by Itron’s software by default. The end user will have access to the install manual and proper training in order to enable these functions. Installed by licensed professionals Itron will provide training and as part of this training, installers will be instructed to only use the antenna models that is provided with the device, as stated in the install manual. Training will also be provided to teach the end user how to enable any features that require part 15 transmitter functionality. Installation requires special training All part 15 transmitter functions are controlled by Itron’s software by default. Only people who have been through the necessary training will be allowed to enable these functions. The intended use is generally not for the general public. It is generally for industry/commercial use. This device is used to communicate with utility meters. Only utility employees will use this device. Sincerely, Jay R.
