Mr. Andy Leimer

Dear Mr. Leimer:
We have reviewed the Rockwell Collinsletter dated February10, 2006, regarding
request for certification ofthe very high frequency (VHF) — 2100E Extended Range
Communications Transceiver, ID — No. AJKPN8222168 that operates in the VHF band
118—137 MHz. The request is to increase capabilities, not operations, within the United
States National Airspace System (NAS). Additional capabilites include $.33 MHz
channel spacing and capabilityto transmit within the 138—152 MHe band, exclusively on
138—144 MHz, 148—149 MHz, and 150.3—150.8 MHz. Having completed the subject review,
we have no objection to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granting
certification for the eapabilityincrease, providing operations in $.33 MHz mode and into
the mentioned bands, will not be exercised within the NAS
Rockwell Collins, as all applicants for FCC Certification, should be aware thatit is likely
that aircraftwill employ Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers along with
VHE transceivers. Tt is also likely that without proper filtering, of the VHE transceiver
harmonic emissions (as per (draft) TSO—C37e), here is a potential fr interference to be
caused by the VHE transceiver to the GNSS receiver.
If you require any additional information, please contact Ms. Annette Allender, Spectrum
Planning and Intemational Office, at (202) 267—3893.
Sincerely,
