Dear Sir or Madam:

Pursuant to Section 2.933, Rockwell Collins, Inc. hereby submits an application for change in
identification of the Rockwell Collins HF-9034 Transceiver, FCC ID: AJH9UUPN822-0090, which was
granted type acceptance on July 23, 1991.

Rockwell Collins produces a newer version of the transceiver, the HF-9034A, which is identical to
the type accepted version except for Class I Permissive Changes pursuant to Section 2.1043(b)(1). The
changes are only in the control interface module – all RF-related circuits are identical (see application
exhibits for details). We request that the FCC Identifier be changed to FCC ID: AJH9UUPN822-0102.

The Class I Permissive Changes described in this application were first implemented in 1992. At
that time, the new model was assigned a new Collins Part Number, 822-0102. In an administrative
oversight, the FCC Identifier on the nameplate was also changed to match the new part number but an
application to change the FCC Identifier was not filed. As a result, several hundred HF-9034A model
transceivers have been shipped bearing the unapproved FCC Identifier AJH9UUPN822-0102 since 1992.
We recently discovered this oversight, halted shipment of units bearing the unapproved FCC Identifier, and
contacted the Office of Engineering and Technology (OET). In a telephone conversation, we were advised
by OET staff to apply for a change in the FCC Identifier that would match the FCC Identifier on the fielded
units.

Please contact Mr. Brett Wilson of this office on (703) 516-8223 if you have any questions about
this application.

Respectfully submitted,

Brett Wilson
