1.0 DEVICE OVERVIEW
The BM BM64 Stereo Audio modules are built around Mictochip Technology IS2064 SoCs respectively.
The 182064 SoC integrates the Bluetooth 4.2 dual mode radio transceiver, Power Management Unit (PMU), a crystal
and DSP. Users can configure tie BMG4 module by using the UI tool and DSP tool, a Windows—basedutllity.
Note: The UI and DSP tools are available for
download from the Microchip web site at

‘The input and output sudios have different stages and each stage can be programmed to vary the gain response
charscteristion. For mirophone, both single ended inputs and differential oputs are supporied.
‘To maintain a high quality signal, a stable biss voltage source to the condenser miczophone‘s FET is provided.
The DC blocking capacitors can be used at both positive and negative sides ofa input. Iternally, this analog nignal is
converied to 16—bit, 8/16 kz linear PCM data.
2.1 Digital Signal Procemsor
‘A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is used to perform speech and muiio procersing. The advanced epeech features, sich
ss scoustic echo cancellation and noise reduction are inbuilt. To reduce noulinear distortion and to help echo
cancellation, an outgoing signal level to the speaker is monitored and adjusted to avod saturation ofspeaker output or
microphone input. Adspive ftering is also applied to tack the ocho path impulse in response to provide ocbo five and.
fulldoplex user experience,
‘The embedded noisereduction algoritim helps to extract cleen speoch signals from the noiy inputs captured by the
1microphones and improves mutnal understandting in communication.
The advanced andlo fetures, such as multi—band dynamic range control, parsmetric mult—band equalizer, sndlo
widening and virtual bass are inbullt, The sudio effect algoritims are to improve the user‘s audio listening experience in
terms ofbetter audio quality after audio signal processing.

‘be processed by the DSP to generate different sound effects (Malf—band dynemic renge compression and andio

2.4 Analog Speaker Ouigut
The BM6Z/6A module supports the following analog speaker ontput modes:
* Copless mode — Recommended for headphone applications in which capless oulput comection helps to save the
BOM cost by avoiding large DC blocking capcitor, Figure 2—7 illusrates the analog speaker output capless mode
* Single—ended mode — Used for driving an exiermal aadio smpliier where a DC blocking capscitor is required. Figure

53 Reset
The BMG4 modile provides a watchdog timer (WDT) to reset the chip. t has an integrated Power—on Reset (POR)
cironlt that will resetall cireults to a known Power—on state. This action can also be driven by an external Reset signal
which is used to control the device externally by forcing t nto a POR staie, The RST_N signal input is ctive—low and
no connection is required in most spplications,
54 External Configuration and Programming
The BMG4 modile can be configured by using an external configuration tool (EEPROM tool) and the firmware is
programmed by using a programming tool (Flash too}).
Note: The EEPROMand Flash tools are avail
able for download from the Microchip web
