Subject: Modular Approval Request

Reference: FCC ID: 2AGRJ-A2RX

We are seeking a full modular approval for this device being submitted for certification

Details as to how the module meets the requirements of FCC Part 15.212 are provided below.

1. “The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding.”
The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see photographs provided with the
application. A can shield covers the top portion of the Bluetooth circuitry and connects into the circuit
ground on the board at multiple points around its perimeter. The ground plane on the bottom layer
completes the shield to enclose the circuitry.

2. “The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs.”
The EUT has buffered data Inputs. These are provided by the Texas Instruments CC2541F256RHAT 2.4
GHz Bluetooth® low energy RF System on Chip.

3. “The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation.”
The module has a Toshiba TCR3DM voltage regulator to provide power to the Bluetooth SoC. The
schematic reference is U12.

4. “The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of section 15.203 and
15.204(C).”
The module meets the FCC antenna requirements, the device incorporates a unique antenna connector
(MHF-4 micro-coaxial connector) and is provided with an Inverted F antenna, complete with cable and
connector to mate to the on-board connector. The antenna is intended to be integrated within the
enclosure of the host device.

5. “The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration”
The equipment was tested in a stand-alone configuration via a serial cable. Please see section test setup
photographs submitted with the application.

6. “The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number.”
The module is labelled with its own FCC ID number, please see product label design and the external
photograph of the device with this label submitted with the application.

7. “The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements
applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with
the module to explain any such requirements.”
The equipment is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Detailed instructions for maintaining
compliance are given in the Regulatory Integration Manual.

8. “The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements.”
The device is compliant with all applicable RF exposure requirements. RF Exposure is addressed in the
RF exposure exhibit.
