Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This is for developmental systems before formal approval and formal tests. WaveSense is working on a new autonomous vehicle lanekeeping safety sensor that works in snow and fog and where current approaches fail. It may also improve current lanekeeping failure rates by several orders of magnitude when integrated even in clear weather conditions. Specifically, this sensor is a new type of ground penetrating radar (Localizing GPR) developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory and licensed for commercial use by WaveSense. The resulting lives saved and injuries prevented may be significant. As testing is required to determine if any modifications are viable for localization, we at WaveSense, including the former PI of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Program, are asking for a limited duration commercial focused STA to test developmental systems as we prepare for formal part 15 subpart F compliance testing.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  This is a request such that we can develop and test new sensor designs. The power levels are at or below part 15 subpart F field strengths. Testing will include driving on roadways, test areas, parking lots, and similar automotive accessible spaces in a range of conditions to test modifications to the radar antenna and transceiver. Operations may involve a contracted partner organization as appropriate.

Class of Station: MO
Nature of Service: Experimental

Requested Period of Operation
Operation Start Date: 10/07/2019
Operation End Date: 04/07/2020

List below transmitting equipment to be installed (if experimental, so state) if additional rows are required, please submit equipment list as an exhibit:
Manufacturer Model Number No. Of Units Experimental
WaveSense Experimental 20 Yes
