Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We seek an STA to allow us to operate an SDR vertical incidence ionosonde in the 2-25 MHz range, in agreement with the experimental license we currently have for operation in Blacksburg, VA. The extension is necessary to allow us to operate our systems at 3 locations across the country on a non-interference basis. Our existing license is call sign WI2XQA, and our file number is 0248-EX-CN-2016. Our original license application contained these site locations in the technical exhibit.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Our ionosonde data will allow us to track the evolution of the ionospheric plasma density prior to and during the total solar eclipse on 21 August 2017. The experiment has been funded by both NSF and NASA.
