Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Valerann is a start-up in the field of smart infrastructure, specifically roads. We recently won an innovation competition run by TransUrban, operators of the I-95/I-495 expressway in North Virginia. Following on from this competition, they have authorised a deployment of our system in the I-95 expressway as the first fully operational market trial of our system. As our system has been developed for the European market, as that is where we are based, our system has not been FCC certified and currently operates in a North American band designated for other purposes. Further, as this market trial will last 6 months, we are seeking Special Temporary Authorisation.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Our smart road system collects all of the road traffic data required by road operators. This deployment will allow Valerann to trial the system on a potential customers road, where we will demonstrate performance and value, before we invest significant resources in developing a communications system specifically for the North American market.
