Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
TrellisWare Technologies develops mobile, ad-hoc networking radios for a variety of customers, including the U.S. Department of Defense. TrellisWare currently holds several experimental licenses to conduct testing in the San Diego and Borrego Springs areas. Trellisware is developing a radio capable of operations at long ranges. TrellisWare requests this STA in order to conduct tests for these radios on an air-ground link in order to allow TrellisWare to test and characterize performance from an aircraft. This is necessary for development of the radio as required by the Department of Defense.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Radio performance tests. As explained in the attached Description of Airborne Test Project, the operations consist of radio performance tests between an aircraft with radios operating in flight patterns in predetermined locations east of TrellisWares currently licensed ground station on Mt. Laguna in San Diego County. Engineers on the ground will test communications of the radios at each location. The Mt. Laguna test site has an existing FCC experimental license under File Number 2416-EX-ST-2019, Call Sign WP9XWT. The ground segment of the test will require the signal definitions and location (slightly modified herein) of the existing Mt. Laguna test site.
