Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The MITRE Corporation seeks a Special Temporary Authority to transmit HF Sounding Signals from White Sands Missile Range, NM, Malabar Annex, FL, and MacDill FL in support of experimental HF system testing. The MITRE team will provide ionospheric and frequency de-confliction knowledge in support of frequency selection. The sounding is critical to interpretation of the collected test data. This resubmission is necessary due to a change in the experimental calendar that was not covered by the original STA.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The goal of the testing is to improve HF System performance. The objective of this frequency authorization request is to provide ionospheric channel information that informs testing and interpretation of test results. Testing will be done during the night. MITREs channel sounding will be performed prior to AFRL testing and immediately following their testing.
