Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Thales would like to perform mobile testing on a new aeronautical earth station (AES) terminal. The testing would be performed a set locations, on a terrestrially based mobile platform (truck) and on test aircraft traveling across CONUS.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Thales Avionics would like to test a new AES terminal for their ESAA services. The new terminal uses a Ka-band ThinKom Antenna system.
