Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Textron Aviation is integrating Vortex radios into multi-mission aircraft at our facilities in Wichita, KS. We are asking for an STA in order to start testing soonest possible to ensure the equipment is operational for upcoming demonstrations to DoD. We have coordinated with AFMO US&P for this STA, and we will apply for a two-year experimental license in the near future once long term requirements have been finalized. A copy of the DoD coordination is attached as an exhibit to this application.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  We need to functionally test the equipment to ensure that it performs as required and does not interfere with other avionics systems.
