Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
STA request is to allow radiation from the JELNS Sprial 1 radar set. This equipment has been previously approved by under the following Commission file numbers and call signs: File number 0675-EX-ST-2013, Call sign WG9XUG. Parameters of the radar set are classified and were submitted as part of the original STA request. The use of the AN/APX-54 Beacon Transponder is not being requested as part of this STA submittal.

Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:

The purpose of the STA request is to allow radiation from the radar for use in demonstrations to potential US Government Agencies. In particular TCOM, LP would like to demonstrate operation of the radar on an aerostat platform to representatives of the Department of Homeland Security to assess utility as part of a border protection program.
