| Please explain the purpose of operation: |
To demonstrate a capability of integrating multiple sensor suites on its aerostat platforms (Thethered balloons).
One sensor under consideration is the Selex Galileo Sea Spray 7500E Maritime Surveillance radar. This commercially a produced radar with development sponsored commercial and military (Royal Navy) programs. The published quantity of these radars is 500 units manufactured and sold. End users include the United States Coast Guard for use on their HC-130H aircraft. TCOM proposes to integrate this radar with other sensors (Electro-Optical/Infrared Camera system, for example) on one of its aerostat platforms in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. TCOM, LP plans to demonstrate the multiple sensor capability to potential customers, offices, and agencies of the United States Government. All testing and demonstrations would be conducted at the TCOM, LP Manufacturing and Flight Test Facility (MFTF) at Elizabeth City, NC. demonstrations would consist of various test scenarios designed to use radar detect a target and provide a cue signal to the EO/IR camera system for visual identification. Also, radar detection data and camera video will be made available to local ground control stations as well as other remote location (Data only). Cease Buzzer Information: Mr. Charles Knauss, TCOM, LP MFTF, telephone (252) 330-3159.
Note: The Commission has previously granted STA for these operations. STA File Number 0416-EX-ST-2013, Call Sign WG9XNX. The operations were never conducted due to technical and export issues with the radar. These issues have now been resolved and the radar is expected at TCOM, LP in Columbia, MD the week of February 24, 2014. |
