Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The C4N Division of the Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has developed an Air-Ground data communications link under contract with the USAF Rivet Joint aircraft operations as a part of the Big Safari Program. The SNC equipment is called the X-NET Air System. Only occasional opportunities are available for SNC actually test this dual-channel FDD radio link with one of the Rivet Joint aircraft. Such an opportunity will be available in the last week of this month, June 2010. SNC desires to internally test this radio link on one of our own aircraft prior to the test with Rivet Joint. SNC can perform this test in the period starting on 12 June 2010 in and around our office in Fort Wayne Indiana. We request an STA for this purpose. We request it be valid for six months in the event that we have an additional opportunity to fly with Rivet Joint later in the year, and could perform another internal SNC test in conjunction with that USAF test. X-NET Air WiMax transciever radio devices testing The purpose of the operation will be to put one of the X-NET Air WiMax transciever radio devices on an SNC aircraft and fly around the Fort Wayne Indiana area, communicating with two of the X-NET Air devices on the ground in different locations. The flight tests will determine the range of the data communications that can be achieved, up to 250 Nmi radius, and the data throughput that can be achieved at different ranges.
