Title:
RF/EM Test Engineer
Phone Number:
7193023117
Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We will be conducting an RF coupling experiment over a broad range of frequencies. This requires illumination of a device under test with low power RF signals and conducting measurements throughout to see how the signal propagates. There is a small window of opportunity in which this is going to be allowed to occur and we would like to take advantage of this.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
RF coupling experiment over a broad range of frequencies. The testing will include a CW immersion of the device under test. The signal will be originated from a signal generator and amplified through a commercially available amplifier. The transmitting antennas are a combination of ETS Lindgren Model 3145BDP Dual Polarized Log-Periodic Dipole Array, IRT Corp. Broadband Biconical Horizontal Dipole antenna, and an IRT Corp. Broadband Dual Tapered Fat Monopole antenna. A specific set of frequencies will be stepped through with an approximate dwell time of 40ms at each frequency. The specific transmitting frequency is narrow band an is not modulated. We try to identify the susceptibility of power systems through RF coupling to conductors running through the facility. This is to determine if the systems are at risk from lightning, solar sub-storms, or other possible threats.
