Ben –

In response to your questions below:

Regarding nationwide use, the purpose of the experimental license is to give Rockwell Collins the frequencies needed to
conduct airborne Wideband HF demonstrations and experiments. Rockwell Collins will be working with a variety of
different Department of Defense agencies and aircraft types, and could be operating out of any military base in the
country. In addition, the routes used for each demonstration will vary depending on the military base used for the
demonstration. As an example, Rockwell Collins is currently working with Air Force Special Operations Command to
conduct an airborne demonstration on an MC‐130H aircraft out of Hurlburt Field, Florida. Because of aircraft availability
issues, however, it may need to change that location to an Air National Guard unit in Pennsylvania. Because of these
types of issues, Rockwell Collins needs the flexibility to operate from any military base in the United States, including
Alaska and Hawaii.

Regarding altitude, the highest altitude for the various aircraft Rockwell Collins may be using to conduct WBHF
operations would be 50,000 feet – the ceiling for the KC‐135. Other aircraft Rockwell Collins is considering cannot fly
that high.

Please let me know if we can provide any additional information to supplement the application.

Many thanks,
Kristine
