To test different antenna front end and modulation schemes we apply for an experimental license to test these radars in real live scenarios to define the final parameters. The radar will be installed in vehicle in different positions (e.g. front, edges back and side…). The radars will have different front end technologies and modulation schemes. The functions Bosch will test are all kind of driver assistance functions like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, cross traffic alert ... Goal is to improve traffic safety and enable higher levels of autonomous driving. The nationwide approval is necessary due to 1. We want to show our radars at different customer location which are in several different regions of the US. 2. We have a Point of Interest database with hundreds of entries all around the US. It is not possible to put all these locations in your form. 3. We are performing endurance runs together with our customer, where the places in point 2 and also the wishes of the customer are defining the routes. We can't know all wishes of the customers.
