                             MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME


        The Fixed Wireless Communications Coalition ("FWCC"), the Association of

American Railroads ("AAR"), the American Petroleumn Institute ("API"), Association of

Public—Safety Communications Officers International ("APCO®) and the United Telecom

Council (formerly the Utilities Telecommunications Council, or "UTC"), (hereinafter

collectively referred to as "Joint Petitioners"), pursuant to Section 1.46 of the

Commission‘s Rules, 47 C.F.R. § 1.46, hereby request a brief extension of time until

| June 15, 2000, to reply to the Opposition to "Petition for Expedited Action," and to

oppose the Motion to Strike, filed by Maritime Telecommunications Network, inc.

("MTN") on May 24, 2000, in the above—referenced proceeding. in support of this

motion, the Joint Petitioners state as follows:
                         &




        1.    On May 10, 2000, the Joint Petitioners filed a Petition for Expedited

              Action ("Petition") in the above—referenced proc;eeding.

On May 24, 2000, MTN filed a Motion to Strike ("Motion") and an

Opposition to the Petition ("Opposition"). Service of the Motion and

Opposition on the Joint Petitioners was by mail.

A Reply to Opposition and an Opposition to the Motion to Strike by the

Joint Petitioners is due on June 6, 2000 and June 8, 2000, respectively,

pursuant to Sections 1.4 and 1.45 of the Commissions Rules, 47 C.F.R.

§§ 1.4 and 1.45.

in order to prepare a complete response to the arguments advanced by

MTN in the Motion and the Opposition, and to respond in detail to the

Engineering Statement of Daniel J. Collins, attached to the Opposition,

additional time is required by the Joint Petitioners.

Grant of a brief extension of time would be in the public interest and

would permit the Joint Petitioners to respond adequately and provide the

Commission with an adequate responsive engineering analysis.

The Joint Petitioner‘s expert was in attendance at the National Spectrum

Manager‘s Association Annual Meeting, and hence, was unavailable the

week that MTN‘s Opposition and Motion were filed and for a brief period

thereafter.                              |

The Joint Petitioners hereby request that the deadline for the filing of

Joint Petitioner‘s reply to MTN‘s Opposition, and Joint Petitioner‘s

Oppositioh to the Motion, be extended by one week from the current

deadline for the Petitioner‘s Opposition to the Motion to Strike, thereby

extending the deadline for both filings until June 15, 2000.
