STA Application 1802-EX-ST-2018
Frequency Coordination Exhibit and Narrative
Austin, Texas Hankook 24-hour Automobile Race
November 15, 2018 through November 18, 2018

This application proposes the use of VHF land mobile channels and a single UHF
channel in the Austin, Texas area for terrestrial only, voice communications for racing
cars and communications with pit crews of the race teams; and for two-way operational
communications during the Hankook 24-hour automobile race event and for testing prior
to the event within and immediately surrounding the Circuit of the Americas Race Track.
The event is scheduled to begin on 15 November and end 18 November, 2018.

An engineering analysis has shown that there should be no interference to any
licensed user of any of the subject channels whatsoever, and the frequency list is
otherwise similar to that which was granted by the Commission at prior events at this
venue. Should any FCC-licensed or United States government station report interference
during the proposed operations, operation on that channel or band will immediately cease
and not resume unless and until the interference complaint is resolved. However, during
the past three years’ prior events using these same frequencies, no interference has been
reported whatsoever. There are on-site coordinators for this event who are charged with
interference avoidance and mitigation.

The frequency ranges set forth herein are a subset of those requested for and
granted by STA to Circuit of the Americas, LLC previously for other racing events at this
venue.

Per the conditions attached to this same event and similar channels in 2017 (see
WL9XYY) the applicant will:

1. Coordinate with the local SBE frequency coordinator prior to operation in
153.45-171.85 MHz,
2. Note that all operations are subject to notification of the following Mobility Division
services within 50 miles of the test area: Paging licensees in 152 MHz, 158 MHz, 152
MHz/158 MHz; and
3. All of the experimental devices will be retrieved by MRTC Motorsport
Communications from the participants upon completion of the operation.

Upon receipt of any complaint of interference from a licensed land mobile
licensee or broadcast entity, or government entity (or otherwise), operation pursuant to
this STA will cease on the channel complained about, and will not resume unless and
until the interference complaint is resolved satisfactorily to the licensee. The
undersigned counsel will be the United States’ stop buzzer contact. All other
communications can also be directed to the office of counsel for MRTC Motorsports
