Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 0432-EX-ST-2019

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to authorize the use of twelve VHF channels and two UHF channels
for two-way voice communications by the Mazda Joest race team at seven separate automobile
racing venues listed below. These channels will be used for the purpose of further testing of an
automobile racing communications system for voice and telemetry that is in the developmental
stage by MRTC. The tests will occur at Weathertech Sportscar Championship series events. The
system will be deployed by the Mazda Joest race team at each location. The race team will use
the communications system on a developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by
MRTC Motorsport Communications.

The events and the dates of each are as follows:

WTSCC Long Beach 12-13th April
WTSCC Lexington (Mid-Ohio Sports Car 3-5th May
Course)
WTSCC Detroit (The Raceway on Belle Isle) 30th May-1st June
WTSCC Watkins Glen 28-30th June
WTSCC Elkhart Lake (Road America) 2-4th August
WTSCC Laguna Seca 13-15th September
WTSCC Petit Le Mans Atlanta (Road Atlanta) 11-12th October

The VHF channels each use a channel bandwidth of 12.5 kilohertz for simplex and duplex voice
operation. The two narrowband UHF channels are for simplex voice from the race cars to the pit
crew and vice versa.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF and UHF channels sought
and proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of each of the seven
venues.
