File No. 0208-EX-ST-2016

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to further test an automobile racing communications system for voice
communications that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at three racing events
during the period March 11, 2016 and April 17 at three racing venues. The system will be
deployed by the P1 McLaren racing team. The race team will use the communications system on
a developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC Motorsport Communications.

The events during 2016 when this system will be deployed are as follows:

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Salinas, California : March 11-13 inclusive.
Thermal Springs Raceway (Private Members Club), Thermal, California, March 17-18 inclusive.
Circuit of the Americas Race Track, Austin, Texas, April 15-17 inclusive.

The applicant requires for these venues sixteen VHF frequency pairs as specified in this
application in the range 163/165 MHz and 168-170 MHz for duplex voice operations.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF channel ranges sought
and proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of each race track. Similar
STAs have been granted for these same test operations at Laguna Seca and Circuit of the
Americas, and at other venues in the past. See, e.g. 0093-EX-ST-2014; 0096-EX-ST-2014; 0316-
EX-ST-2014 and 1270-EX-ST-2015 among others.

The “stop buzzer” contact on behalf of the applicant at the Laguna Seca raceway is Mr. Jim

Circuit of the Americas, the stop buzzer contact is Rebekka Jones. Her direct dial telephone
