Message:

Dear Behnam Ghaffari

Thank you for reaching out for clarification regarding FCC application number 0892-EX-CN-2017.

1. Request for nationwide experimental license

The designed system is an on-body, wearable device that will be tested by human subjects enrolled in
research projects at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Massachusetts General Hospital, and at institutions of
external collaborators (for example, University of Pittsburgh and University of Southern California). In
addition, the experimental protocols of research projects at Massachusetts General Hospital call for
long-term, ambulatory monitoring of the behavior of research subjects during their typical daily life. It is
possible that these subjects, during the course of their typical routines, travel outside of the local area for
work or leisure purposes. Thus, due to the location of research collaborators and the potential travel of
research subjects enrolled in research projects, the application requests a nationwide experimental
license for this technology.

2. Request for 60-month experimental license
Collaborators at Massachusetts General Hospital have secured two clinical research grants (R21 and
P50) from the National Institutes of Health National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication
Disorders that consist of projects that will test the designed wireless system. In particular, the P50 grant is
a five-year project that started in April 2017 and could be extended for an additional year. To take into
account this long-term project funding timeline, the FCC application requested a 60-month experimental
license.

Please let us know if we can provide additional information regarding this application.

Sincerely
Daryush Mehta
