Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The experiment will last four weeks. The period of operations will be 19 April-14 May 2021.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Developing technology to improve the performance and protection of communication signals. The proposed experiment fulfills requirements for work supported by the Department of the Air Force under Air Force Contract No. FA8702-15-D-0001. The program is developing technology to improve the performance and protection of communication signals. MIT Lincoln Laboratory is developing a communications capability for the Department of Defense. In order to have a successful transition to the warfighter, the developed technology needs to be tested and demonstrated in air-to-ground flight tests. This STA will support a demonstration to take place in May 2021.
