Dear Sirs:
Lucent Technologier hereby requests an Experimental License to perform essential experimentation in the
3.4—3.6 GHz frequency band.
We are requesting this authorization in order to conduct over—the—air experiments with a new®compact,
fixed Wireless Local Loop System. The actual product is officially designated as the AirLoop System,
which is designed to operate in 1.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 3.4 GHz frequency bands as customer options in
accordance with commercially available spectrum. The purpose of this Experimental License is to obtain
authorization for experimentation in the 3.4—3.6 GHz frequency band. It is critical that this Experimental
License be granted so that this new product can be tested and further developed outside of the controlled
laboratory environment, and in diverse environmental conditions and over diverse geographic terrain. The
equipment designed for the 3.4 to 3.6 GHz band is not to be sold in the United States, it will be marketed in
the Caribbean and Latin American countries. In compliance with CFR 47, Part 5, Section 5.205, the
attached FCC Form 442 with exhibits are being submitted.

This Experimental License will be used 1) to experiment with a functional AirLoop® System, as described
in this dg)cumem, simulating subscriber traffic, and 2) to perform RF propagation experiments using the
AirLoop base station and subscriber transceivers. All tests and experiments will utilize 100 MHz duplex
Tx/Rx paired carriers.
