Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We are planning some tests in the North Shore area of Alaska. Our current experimental license allows us to operate in this area, but we would like to add some frequencies to allow us to operate our UHF SAR across a wider band. A modification to our experimental license is currently being processed, so we decided to submit a STA rather than wait for the current modification to be completed so that we could then modify the license again to include this region.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  To test a wideband UHF synthetic aperture radar in a snow covered environment. To test a wideband UHF synthetic aperture radar in a snow covered environment, to better understand its capabilities. The radar is mounted to an aircraft flying at an altitude of 6000 feet or less (AGL).
