Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
On January 26, 2012, Google Inc. (Google) was granted special temporary authority (Call Sign: WF9XKU, File No. 0758-EX-ST-2011) to test a next-generation personal communications device (STA). The STA will expire July 26, 2012. Based on projected milestones, Google anticipates that by August 2012 it will have a fully compliant device ready for submission for FCC equipment authorization pursuant to Sections 2.915, 15.201(b), and 15.247 of the Commissions rules, and in the normal course will obtain authorization shortly thereafter. In order to allow Google to continue testing its device prior to receipt of equipment authorization so that there is no gap between expiration of the current STA and the effective date of equipment certification, and also to expand the scope of its testing, Google seeks to renew and modify the STA for a period beginning on the date of grant of this request and continuing until the earlier of six months thereafter or authorization for the device becomes effective.
