Re: Call Sign WH2XCD (File No. 0055-EX-RR-2016)

Dear Mr. Serafini:

Please be advised that consistent with our existing nationwide experimental
authorization (Call Sign WH2XCD), Waymo LLC (Waymo) intends to utilize [REDACTED]. The
technical information for these devices will be within the limits established in the experimental
license. This experimental authorization was granted to Google Inc. in File No.
0035-EX-PL-2014, renewed by Google in File No. 0055-EX-RR-2016, and transferred to Waymo in
File No. 0026-EX-AU-2016.

Waymo requests confidential treatment of the material underlined in this letter for the
length of the proposed experiment and thereafter in order to protect its evolving business and
technology strategies. The information Waymo seeks to keep confidential includes proprietary
commercial information that represents a trade secret as recognized by the Commission.
Self-driving car technology is the subject of fierce competition from multiple third parties, and
the release of the information provided by Waymo would provide valuable insight into Waymo’s
technology innovations and potential business plans and strategies. In particular, the
[REDACTED] has been shielded from competitors and the public. Moreover, Waymo has limited
the number of people involved in the tests/experiments, and required all third parties involved in
the testing process to execute robust nondisclosure agreements. Consistent with 47 C.F.R. §
0.459(d)(l), Waymo requests notification if release of confidential information is requested
pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act or otherwise.

Please do not hesitate to contact to me at tlue@waymo.com should you have any
questions regarding this letter.

                                                     Sincerely yours,

                                                     Thomas Lue
